HUIZHOU, GUANGDONG, CHINA (June 18, 2016) - The 21^st International Symposium on Broadcasting Technology (ISBT2016) was held for the first time in Huizhou City Guangdong Province, and brought together more than 100 industry influencer, officials and decision makers to discuss the future of media convergence – attendees including representatives from State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT); China Radio and Television Network Co., Ltd; China National Radio (CNR);China Central Television (CCTV); Huizhou Party Secretary and the Mayor and Secretary of HZZK Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone.

Huizhou City Mayor Jiaomeng Mai stated at the opening ceremony that “Huizhou will vigorously support the development of the broadcasting industry, and encourage technical exchanges and cultural cooperation between local broadcasting players across the country, providing great opportunities for Huizhou’s technology companies to deliver a better video broadcast experience.”

After the opening ceremony, Huizhou Municipal Government, Academy of Broadcasting Science under SARFT and Guangdong Radio and Television Network Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly set up the Guangdong New Media Industry Development Institute, located in HZZK Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, to serve as the engine of technical innovation and application development of cable, wireless and satellite broadcasting; software determined set-top box terminals and platforms; home broadcasting and network access technology; multi-screen interaction and big data applications.

Huizhou Municipal Government, Academy of Broadcasting Science under SARFT and Guangdong Radio and Television Network Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement

Luo Jianhui, the Director of SARFT Network Division, Yang Jie, the Deputy Director of SARFT Science and Technology Division, Du Baichuan, Associate Director of SARFT Science and Technology Committee, Peng Zhiyong, vice president from UTStarcomn and Seth VerMulm, Product Director of Wellav Technologies all provided presentations on trends, opportunities and analysis of the convergence of traditional media and new media.

ISBT is an annually held seminar that is authorized by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST) and the SARFT, and has been supported by major broadcasting institutions and organizations both at home and abroad. The ISBT2016 was primarily held by the Chinese Institute of Electronics, and jointly held by Broadcasting Technology Branch of Chinese Institute of Electronics, Academy of Broadcasting Science under SARFT and Huizhou Municipal Government, while the Management Committee of HZZK Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone and Wellav Technologies co-organized this seminar.
